April 9, 2024--The West Tennessee Retired Teacher Association meeting was held in Jackson TN on April 9, hosted by the Jackson-Madison County Local Teachers' Association. It was held at T. R. Sportsplex with Rose Anderson presiding. Locals attending were Benton County, Gibson County, Hardeman County, Henderson County, Memphis-Shelby County, Tipton County and Jackson-Madison County. Dr. Nathan Lewis, Principal of JCM Early College High spoke on the Opportunities Early College High provides a diversified student population and successes. Health supervisor Stephanie Winfrey gave updates on Senior Health Matters - Insurance. Ted Williams of Tipton County and Legislative chair shared updates of the legislative program. New Officers for the WTRTA were installed. President-Dr. Charles Green, Memphis-Shelby; President-Elect- Daisey Cleaves, Tipton County; Secretary-Martha Fayne, Tipton County; and Treasurer.

TRTA President Bill Murray delivered a greeting and remarks to the members at the Middle TN Retired Teachers Association at the TEA building in Nashville on Tuesday, May 14. A large contingent of area leaders was on hand to take part in the meeting's entertainment, comments, and a wonderful BBQ lunch.
TEA President Tanya Coats provided a legislative update and a most sincere thank you to TRTA for their continued service to public education and the successes during the recent legislative session.
Middle TN RTA President Patricia Hudson provides closing comments to the members at their spring meeting at TEA. Hudson also serves as the chapter president of Dickson County RTA .
The W. Crimm Singers performed three wonderful songs for the members and guests of the Middle TN Retired Teachers Association at their regional meeting. There are over 100 Crimm Singers nationwide. The performers for the MTRTA event are all classically trained and musically inclined and must be a college graduate. The Crimm singers graduated from Fisk, TSU, or another HBCU. Most of the singers at this event are educators!
The East TN RTA meeting on May 16th was all about connections and celebrating public education and the defeat of vouchers. Dr. Josh Tipton spoke about public education today, and TRTA President-elect Dewayne Emert shared an email from Carson Newman, emphasizing the connection between higher education and retired teachers. Liv Cook spoke about building the connection between TEA and TRTA.
